LOCAL STORIES
The Mafi Zongo project in the Volta Region developed a drinking-water network linking a dam, treatment plant, reservoir and village distribution points. Local participation in construction and management was central to the project.
The Mafi Seva Clinic opened in 2003. Alongside clinical services, the Kekeli programme trained women as village health promoters. Drama, discussion and community visits made health information accessible in local life.
The Neohumanist Primary School, also known as Namaskar School, developed education from kindergarten through junior high school. Namaskar House provided a home for boys, while the training centre prepared Ananda Marga monks for service.
The Centre for Neohumanist Studies and Madhu Shyam provided a setting for yoga, seminars and community gatherings. Accra also hosted Nairobi Sector’s office from 1974 to 1979.
The Lotus Children’s Centre grew around a girls’ home, early learning and a children’s library. AMURTEL’s Domiabra and Akwakwaa clinics developed primary healthcare services for rural communities.
LOCAL STORIES
Community performances in Déou addressed health, values and social wellbeing. Local facilitators encouraged audiences to discuss the issues together.
The Déou programme trained village midwives and health workers to support pregnancy care, referrals and health education. Its wider activities included gardening, tree planting and rural transport for care.
The regional archive records work on a rainwater collection pond at Ayagorou, an ecological centre in Ouagadougou, and Ananda Virat at Bissiri. Activities at Bissiri included a clinic, literacy classes, a cereal bank and small-scale farming.
LOCAL STORIES
Near Lomé, a community project combined preschool and primary education with fruit trees, vegetables and a bakery. Land donated in 1989 provided the foundation for these activities.
